Pinstripe practice

I have been putting overtime hours trying to improve my pinstripe skills. I spent a fair amount of time last winter but my skill was not quite ready in the spring for production work.

I switched to the Kafka brushes last summer and have spent the rest of the time adjusting to the new style of brush. I am still working hard at mastering the brush and most importantly the consistency of the Oneshot paint.

Things have been moving along and I am getting the consistent lines and am working to get good symmetry.

Airbrush Action Getaway

Well I am finally going to one of the Airbrush Getaway's in Vegas. I am heading there in Feb and will spend four days getting as much info and training I can get. I have a lot of experience with the airbrush but  not so much with the spray gun and larger techniques, so this will not only be a great training opportunity, networking but the timing is perfect. I have a bike to paint that this training will help create a better job.

I will get more info on the operation and use of full-size spray guns to create traditional and advanced custom painting techniques. Get tips on planning and completing projects that involve masking, fading, marbleizing, texturing, color blending, and many effects. Finishes will include undercoats, kandies, pearls, flakes, striping, and even clearcoats, to create the stunning optical effects unique to large-scale projects. From old-school-style Lowrider tape fades to modern taped and blended flames, the combined experience of using state-of-the-art tools to achieve traditional automotive styles and effects.
Instructors are Brian Lynch and Armando Serrano
I can't wait to get back and paint using my improved skills and techniques.

House of Kolor

Orangepaint Factory will be offering House of Kolor Custom paint work starting in February. We will painting our first House of Kolor custom in February and it will be available for clients that want the superior color and effects that HOK offers.

Next Project

I had a meeting today and took pictures of my next project. I met with the client and we discussed design ideas and paint. What we had was a custom Road King build to the max. This is going to be a sweet ride when done.

I took some pictures and then later went for a coffee to look at pictures and to discuss more ideas. I will be painting with House of Kolor and am looking forward to finally using the paint.

I put the pics in my computer and then worked the image with photoshop to turn all the parts white so that I have a clean slate to start laying out designs.

This is align profile job with potentially 3 more bikes to paint if I impress the bike builder and the owner has enough connections and acquaintances that I could be real busy in the future.

Changes to logo

With the completion of my latest job, the extra interest I was starting to get and the fact that the owner was so impressed he has decided to put it in the local Bike show in early February. The event draws a good crowd and this is a good opportunity to advertise and promote my business.

I needed more business cards and a sign but I first I decided to work on redesigning my logo a bit. I wanted a more square logo and one that wasn't so long. Orangepaint factory makes the logo quite long and makes the logo too small when I need to fit it in to the card.

I finished a new logo i was happy with and I ordered new cards through vistaprint.ca. They should get here this week.

I will make up a sign this week and probably spend some time at the show to promote my work.

Final Pics of Roy's Harley

I finally delivered the parts early in Jan and stopped in a few days later to drop off the saddlebags. I had to re-clear the saddlebag and them buff and polish them.

When I stopped in, I had figured that Roy would have put all the parts back on the bike so he could see how it all looked. He was so excited when he saw the work he called a bunch of biker friends to come over to see his new bike and have a few cold ones.

He was more than pleased with the paint job and was like a kid at Christmas when I dropped it off.

You always see the parts but don't really appreciate how it all fits together until you see the parts back on the bike.

I was happy with how the paint turned out and have already gotten some real good feedback and interest for more work.

Harley Bags

I have the bike completed and will drop off the bags tomorrow. Next pics will be complet bike.

Harley finally done

I finally delivered the Harley parts I was working on and watching the expression on my clients face was priceless. I had overexceeded his expectations and he was like a kid at Christmas.

Other than a few issues cutting through some of the corners of the saddlebags when I was buffing the job went well. I spent a little extra time working the flames than I wanted to, but they came out the way I wanted them to. I can't wait to see the bike all together.

Latest Custom Mask

Latest custom paint work that I just completed. This mask came my way before Christmas and I slid inbetween the Harley I was working on.

I decided to use metallic instead of the flat greys that were in the logo. I was glad I did, it really made the mask pop.
